VAT registration guide
Everything you need to know about VAT registration and tax obligations for businesses
Value Added Tax (VAT) is an indirect tax levied on all goods and services bought and sold by establishments. It has been implemented in the Kingdom at a rate of 15%.
Who should register?
- Establishments whose annual revenues exceed 375,000 riyals (mandatory registration)
- Establishments whose revenues range between 187,500 and 375,000 riyals (optional registration)
Registration steps:
1. Enter the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority portal
2. Create an account or log in
3. Choose to register for VAT
4. Fill out the required forms and attach the documents
5. Waiting for approval and receiving the tax number
Obligations of the registered establishment:
- Submitting tax returns periodically (monthly or quarterly)
- Issuing correct tax invoices
- Maintaining accounting records for 6 years
- Pay the tax due on the specified dates
